TBL supported SFW (Ltd) on drafting a maritime transport greenhouse gas data collection and management report for the EU Commission.
Shipping represents "a large and growing source of the greenhouse gas emissions which are causing climate change." Maritime operators consistently gather substantial amounts of data covering fuel usage, safety compliance, environmental performance, and financial metrics.
TBL contributed practical experience with data collection and management reporting tools, employing a lean methodology to guide the development of future templates and IT systems, and to reduce the administrative burden on both the shipping sector and EU regulators. The regulation took effect in January 2017, with data collection and analysis requirements beginning in 2016.
